Jobs abroad from Kochi and Kerala

Our first office is opening in Kochi. Before you pay anyone or hand over a single document, check that the agency is registered: it takes a minute on emigrate.gov.in. By law, only recruiting agents registered with the Ministry of External Affairs can recruit people for jobs abroad, and that includes us. We’ll start once our registration comes through.

Three lawful ways to a job abroad from Kerala

  1. A registered recruiting agent

    Ask for the agent’s registration number and look for it in the list of active recruiting agents on emigrate.gov.in. An agent may advertise a job only when it holds the employer’s demand letter and power of attorney.

  2. A Kerala government agency

    The Ministry of External Affairs lists NORKA Roots, Overseas Development and Employment Promotion Consultants (ODEPC) and Additional Skill Acquisition Programme Kerala (ASAP Kerala) among the recruiting agencies run by state governments. NORKA Roots says the Ministry has authorised it to facilitate overseas recruitment, and that it recruits nurses, doctors, technicians and housemaids for employers in GCC countries.

Government help for emigrants in Kerala

  • Protector of Emigrants: two of India’s 16 offices are in Kerala, in Kochi (Cochin) and Thiruvananthapuram. They oversee recruiting agents.
  • Kshetriya Pravasi Sahayata Kendra: one of the Ministry of External Affairs’ six regional help centres for emigrants is in Kochi.

How do I know an abroad job consultancy in Kochi is genuine?

Ask for its registration number from the Ministry of External Affairs and find it in the list of active recruiting agents on emigrate.gov.in. The Ministry had notified 3,505 illegal agents on eMigrate as of 9 April 2026. A registered agent takes payment only digitally or by bank draft, with a receipt, never in cash.

How do I get a job abroad from Kerala?

Through a recruiting agent registered with the Ministry of External Affairs, through a Kerala government recruiting agency such as NORKA Roots or ODEPC, or directly with an employer abroad. Whichever you choose, you need the work permit or work visa the destination country requires. A tourist or visit visa does not let you work.

Kerala has two of India’s 16 Protector of Emigrants offices: one in Kochi (Cochin) and one in Thiruvananthapuram. The Protector of Emigrants oversees recruiting agents.
