The Estonia process step by step, and how to check your status

Can you apply for Estonia from Canada, the US, the UK, Australia, Ireland or New Zealand?

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says a D visa 'must be applied for in person in the applicant's country of residence', so a legal temporary resident of CA/US/UK/AU/IE/NZ applies where they live. For residence permits PBGB says to file at an Estonian foreign mission and check that mission's own submission rules. Once legally in Estonia (for example on a D visa), a worker can apply for the residence permit at a PBGB service office.

What we can and cannot do for a Estonia work permit

What we do

  • Check your profile against the Estonia rules on this page, and tell you plainly if a route is not open to you.

  • Help you prepare a complete, honest application file.

  • Guarantee a job, a permit or a visa. The Estonia authorities decide.
  • Appointments at the Embassy in New Delhi are booked online and are free. The decision is made by the Police and Border Guard Board in Estonia. newdelhi.mfa.eechecked 24 Oct 2026
