What are the steps for a Bulgaria work permit?

    Employer runs the labour-market test and checks the 20% (or 35% SME) cap.

  2. 2

    Employer applies before the worker arrives. EU Immigration Portal: at the local Employment Office; secondary 2024-2026 guides describe filing with the Migration Directorate, which consults the Employment Agency (15 days) and the State Agency for National Security (14 days). Filing point: not confirmed.

    After approval the employer is notified (within 3 days of positive opinions, secondary).

  4. 4

    Worker applies for a type D visa at a Bulgarian embassy or consulate (in India through VFS Global); secondary guides say within 20 days of the employer's notice.

    Worker enters Bulgaria and obtains the single permit from the Migration Directorate of the Ministry of Interior (appear within 14 days of entry, secondary).

    Worker registers their address within 5 days of arrival.
